Ocean Okinawa Emerald Beach

Emerald Beach – Perfect for Families

Located inside Ocean Expo Park beside the famous Churaumi Aquarium, Emerald Beach is one of northern Okinawa’s most attractive and accessible beaches. Its brilliant white sand contrasts beautifully with the sparkling blue-green water, creating the classic tropical Okinawa scene.

The calm, shallow water makes it particularly appealing for families, while the surrounding park provides plenty to see and do when you want a break from the beach.

Getting there: From Naha Airport, drive north via the Okinawa Expressway. Allow approximately two hours, depending on traffic.

Nearby dining: Explore the cafes and restaurants around Bise and Motobu for Okinawan dishes, seafood, coffee and tropical desserts.

Mission Beach – A Secluded Tropical Escape

If you’re searching for a quieter Okinawa beach, Mission Beach is a wonderful choice. Tucked away along the northern coast of Onna Village, this attractive stretch of sand has a relaxed, almost private-island atmosphere.

The combination of soft golden-white sand, lush greenery and clear blue water makes Mission Beach particularly photogenic. It is an excellent place to slow down, swim and enjoy Okinawa away from the busier resort beaches.

Getting there: From Naha Airport, take the Okinawa Expressway north and exit at Yaka IC. Continue towards Nago on Route 58 and follow the signs towards Mission Beach. The journey takes roughly 1½–2 hours depending on traffic.

Nearby dining: For a relaxed meal or coffee, try hale’aina HOA Okinawa or explore the restaurants and cafes further south along the Onna coast. Diamond Beach Cafe is another attractive option for a seaside coffee stop.

Getting there: Manza Beach is approximately one hour from Naha Airport by car and is easily incorporated into an Onna Village road trip.

Nearby dining: Onna has an excellent selection of restaurants. For a relaxed Hawaiian-style meal, try hale’aina HOA Okinawa, while Shimabutaya Onna is a popular option for a more substantial Okinawan dinner.

Sesoko Beach – Crystal-Clear Island Waters

Sesoko Beach delivers the feeling of a remote tropical island without the need to board a boat. Located on Sesoko Island near Motobu, it features wonderfully clear water, soft sand and panoramic views across the surrounding islands.

The beach is especially beautiful on sunny days when the shallow water takes on vivid shades of turquoise and sapphire blue.

Getting there: Drive across the Sesoko Bridge from mainland Okinawa. From Naha Airport, allow around 90 minutes by car, depending on traffic.

Nearby dining: Head back towards Motobu after your swim for local Okinawan restaurants, seafood and cafes. The area around the Churaumi Aquarium also provides plenty of choices for lunch.
